The composition or make up of the car tyre affects car tyre wearing because tyres made of harder rubber compounds are generally known to be more durable compared to those made of softer rubber compounds. Car tyres positioned at the front are also known to wear out more and to wear out faster compared to tyres positioned in the back of the car. Owners of heavier vehicles may also notice that their vehicle’s car tyres are much more prone to wearing compared to tyres on lighter vehicles. This is because heavier vehicles wear car tyres faster than lighter ones. Car tyres inflated below the recommended tyre pressure are also known to wear more compared to those inflated to the right tyre pressure. Like under-inflated tyres, over-inflated tyres are also more prone to tyre wear. It is also recommended for drivers to avoid driving at high speeds unless necessary. Doing so increases tyre temperature which will wear down tyres more. Driving style is equally important with aggressive driving and excessive braking and accelerating one of the major culprits for tyre wear. The tyres’ alignment should also be checked to avoid further wear.
